Workshop Dedicated to Shaping a Brand New Micro-credential on the Basics of Environmental Sciences

11.12.2025

On December 11, the Center for Ecological-Noosphere Studies (CENS), NAS RA, hosted an inspiring workshop dedicated to shaping a brand-new micro-credential on the Basics of Environmental Sciences.

The event brought together researchers, educators and experts from CENS to dive into the latest European best practices, explore what makes an effective micro-credential, and discuss how such courses can strengthen environmental education in Armenia. Participants reviewed the proposed course structure, key thematic modules, assessment approaches and mechanisms that will ensure strong academic and practical quality.

A clear target audience and development timeline were also defined an important step toward launching the course in 2026.

Why does this matter?

Because in a fast-changing world, short, intensive, science-based and market-oriented micro-credentials are becoming essential tools for building new skills. They offer flexible learning opportunities that respond directly to labour-market needs.

With this initiative, CENS aims to help fill existing educational gaps in the environmental sciences and introduce a modern, research-driven learning pathway developed outside the traditional university model. This will create new opportunities for students, young professionals, and specialists looking to strengthen their environmental expertise.
